A '60s short-bed GMC pick-up with its solid undercarriage, roomy cab and plenty of space under the hood is a natural candidate for a street rod. As such, this 1968 GMC ½ ton was fully restored and mechanically upgraded in 2015. The builder chose Tuxedo Black for the exterior and front grille/bumper assembly. The rear bumper assembly was deleted entirely resulting in a great looking 'shorty' bed that utilizes custom oak planks for flooring. The retro-classic cab was enhanced with beautiful red leather upholstery and door panels. A padded instrument panel houses a full set of classic-style gauges. Cold A/C, tinted windows, tilt wheel, new carpeting and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD sound system complete the interior package. That said, this GMC pick-up is all about the performance delivered from a strong, professionally built drivetrain. Power comes from a 454ci GM crate motor with significant upgrades. It breathes through a B&M roots-style supercharger and AED Performance double-pumper carburetor. Exhaust gases exit through tube headers into a free-flow system. An HD radiator w/twin electric fans handles cooling and the powerplant is backed by a TH350 automatic transmission. The detailed chassis has been upgraded with power steering and power 4-wheel disc brakes w/dual master. American Racing 22” chrome alloy wheels mount Nexen HP radials. This custom performance pick-up is a real head-turner and a blast to drive. It belongs in your Bowtie garage.
